Meet the Owners of The Hive Ballroom Dance Studio of Tampa, Florida

Lina Mambella

Studio Owner / Instructor

Lina started ballroom dancing at age 15 after nine years of ballet. Lina grew up in Pescara, Italy, and moved to the US in 2014. Since arriving in the US, Lina has worked in studios around the country, including New Jersey, Texas, Connecticut, and now Florida. Since moving to Florida in 2020 Lina became a Senior Instructor of Easidance Ballroom (now The Hive) and became co-owner in 2023. Lina still teaches students of all levels.

Since being in the US, Lina has also built a strong team of Male Pro/AM Competitors and show dance performers who have showcased their talents at national competitions. Many lady students also love to work with Lina as she helps develop their styling and follower techniques.

Amongst all her talents, Lina is a fabulous wedding dance choreographer and loves creating unique and special dances tailored to each couple.


While in Italy, Lina trained with the very best coaches in Europe, traveling to many different countries to compete in all the major ballroom dance competitions, including The Blackpool Dance Festival, The Italian Open, The German Open, The UK, The International, and many more.


During this time, Lina collected many regional titles in Italy and across Europe and was a multiple-time Italian National Finalist. Lina was also a member of the Italian National Championship-winning Latin Formation team, a successful Social Dance event organizer, and a certified Ballroom Adjudicator.

John Campbell

Studio Owner / Instructor

John, a former Manchester England International Standard competitor, moved to the USA in 2012 to teach in Stamford, CT. During this time, John got to work with world-class coaches, developing his skills in American and International dance styles.

In his eight years in Connecticut, John became a certified instructor in the Dance Vision syllabus, worked with students that were new to dance helping them achieve there dance goals, developed and performed with students in showcase performances, and competed with students of all levels in Pro/AM competitions in all four styles (Smooth, Rhythm, Latin and Standard), many of which became Finalist and Champions in the prestigious United States National Championships.


Since leaving Connecticut in 2020, John has been the senior instructor at Easidance Ballroom (now The Hive), in 2023 John became co-owner of the studio and continues to work with dancers of all levels guiding them on their dance journey. 



In his professional competitive career, John Competed in the Professional American Smooth division. While competing professionally, John collected numerous RS and Open Regional Titles, placed 3rd in the United States RS final, was crowned Fred Astaire World Rising Star Champion, and ranked in the top 12 competitors in the United States.
